Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP proudly celebrates dual honors from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), earning two prestigious wins in the 31st Annual Communicator Awards. Recognizing excellence, innovation, and effectiveness in communication worldwide, the Communicator Awards remains the leading international program recognizing top talent in this dynamic field.

The video Senior Planet Stories: Donna Thomas-Jones earned the Award of Excellence for powerfully portraying Ms. Donna Thomas-Jones, a Miami native whose inspiring journey from stroke survivor to skilled technology user was made possible through the Senior Planet center in Miami.

The second award, the Award of Distinction, recognized the first episode in Season 2 of the Aging Rewired podcast, which kicked off 2025 by exploring the topic that keeps podcast listeners buzzing: technology and its remarkable potential to enrich the lives of older adults.
Both the video and podcast episode stood out among thousands of entries, exemplifying this year’s AVIA Communicator Awards theme: Communication is Connection. Judged by AIVA’s exclusive academy of 500+ leaders from top brands and agencies, this year’s jury included professionals from Google, Accenture Song, Smithsonian, Microsoft, Digitas, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Publicis, Spotify, Johns Hopkins, Critical Mass, Amazon, The Andy Warhol Museum and many more.
