EY has released a new report, Understanding Older Generations’ Adoption of AI, developed in collaboration with OATS. Based on a survey of more than 2,500 adults aged 60–85 across 16 countries, the findings challenge common assumptions about older adults and technology.
The report shows strong interest in AI, with 38% of respondents actively learning and only 15% expressing no interest. Importantly, the research highlights a clear demand for accessible, easy-to-use training and resources. For organizations, this represents both an opportunity and a responsibility to invest in age-inclusive design and education.
As Alex Glazebrook, VP of Business Operations at OATS from AARP, noted in the press release of the report, “Seniors are increasingly integrating technology and AI into their lives in ways that serve their unique wants and needs. Through our Senior Planet program, we offer free AI classes for seniors, and they’re consistently some of our most sought-after programs. The data in this report is clear: when it comes to AI, older adults are curious and want to learn more.”
The results of the report make one thing clear: older adults are engaged, curious, and ready to learn.
