SoFIA

The challenge

In 2018, Impact Broward, a non-profit with more than 50 years of history of engaging seniors through service to meet critical community needs in South Florida, announced a new name and mission. The new South Florida Institute on Aging’s mission was stated to improve economic and social insights and services to empower people as they age, and they needed to add innovative programs to fit this new forward-thinking orientation.

The strategy

OATS would license SOFIA as a partner to deliver Senior Planet programs in South Florida, support their staff, provide guidance and training, and help SOFIA engage with older adults in their community using the award-winning Senior Planet curriculum.

The solution

OATS built a “partner portal” to help share organizational knowledge and resources with SOFIA, their program staff, and local trainers. The partner portal hosts trainer materials, outreach templates, curriculum descriptions, course books, technology recommendations, and other resources. As a result, SoFIA has access to the materials necessary to set up a successful Senior Planet program in the region, and is working as a partner with OATS to fundraise and expand the program.
