Grant Announcement: AT&T

AT&T awards OATS from AARP a $1.3 million contribution to help close the digital divide for seniors in underserved communities.

We are proud to announce that AT&T has awarded OATS from AARP a $1.3 million contribution to help close the digital divide for seniors in underserved communities.

This contribution will support the integration of resources from AT&T’s digital literacy library into our existing work and will enable us to expand our licensing, virtual, and in-person programming across the country. Over the next year, OATS and its licensing partners will serve 10,000 unique older adults through 115,000 engagements as part of the collaboration with AT&T.

“AT&T has built an impressive library of digital resources,” said Deirdre Lee, Director of Virtual Program Experiences at OATS, and project lead for the AT&T collaboration. “These include materials on video conferencing, getting started with a computer, mouse and keyboard practices, and helping people practice digital skills with their phone. We’re excited to highlight AT&T’s wealth of digital literacy resources in Senior Planet classes. They complement skills we teach and will provide participants additional opportunities for practice outside the classroom.”

OATS will showcase the AT&T resources in several ways, including through outreach by our Contact Center. The resources will be highlighted in appropriate classes, and a landing page on the Senior Planet website will connect people to them.

AT&T has previously provided funding to support successful Senior Planet multilingual programming in California. Since 2021, AT&T has committed a total of $5 billion to narrow the digital divide, with a goal of helping 25 million people get and stay connected to affordable, high-speed internet access by 2030.
